Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a highly specialist speech and language therapy service to adults with complex neuro-disability and neuro-rehabilitation needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a flexible and prioritised autonomous highly specialist SLT service in the clinical specialisms, targeting intervention and education where needed.
  • Work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team, contributing to patient care plans and goal setting as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain highly specialist knowledge and skills in relevant clinical specialisms underpinned by current evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
  • Communicate complex condition-related information from assessment to patients, carers, families, and members of the multi-disciplinary team/other professions via attendance at multidisciplinary meetings, rehabilitation goal setting meetings, and case conferences as required.
  • Provide supervision to more junior SLTs, SLT assistants, and SLT students as well as providing advice and support to healthcare staff, SLT Technical Instructors, and other professionals.
  • Lead service development projects within the speech and language and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to achieving the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability's objectives and strive to improve efficiency in all areas of work.
Requirements
  • Highly specialist knowledge and skills in relevant clinical specialisms underpinned by current evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
  • Ability to communicate complex condition-related information from assessment to patients, carers, families, and members of the multi-disciplinary team/other professions.
  • Experience of working as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team and contributing to patient care plans and goal setting.
  • Ability to provide supervision to more junior SLTs, SLT assistants, and SLT students as well as providing advice and support to healthcare staff, SLT Technical Instructors, and other professionals.
  • Leadership skills and ability to lead service development projects within the speech and language and multidisciplinary teams.
