Teacher of Physical Education Opportunity

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of Physical Education to join our team at an exceptional Client Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging physical education lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of secondary school students.
  • Design and adapt PE curriculum plans that align with national standards and school objectives, ensuring a variety of sports and physical activities are included.
  • Assess student progress through observations, practical assessments, and written evaluations.
  • Provide feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
  • Encourage and promote the importance of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among students.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment during PE lessons and activities.
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of sports equipment and facilities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and school staff to integrate physical education with other subjects and school activities.
Requirements:
  • A recognized teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or equivalent, with a specialization in Physical Education.
  • A degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience teaching physical education at the secondary school level is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of physical education curriculum requirements, sports coaching techniques, and fitness principles.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies, with the ability to follow school procedures and ensure student safety.
  • Have a Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please note that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
