Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Geo-environmental Consultant/ Hydrogeologist to join our team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be part of an innovative and technically excellent team, working on a range of exciting projects, including contaminated land, hydrogeology, and brownfield redevelopment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise, collate, and assess desk-based information as part of Phase 1 Desk Studies.
  • Take a leading role in implementing AtkinsRéalis digital initiatives and automation aims.
  • Manage digital data, develop conceptual site models, and undertake qualitative and quantitative risk assessments for human health and the water environment.
  • Prepare and deliver factual and interpretative reporting.
  • Design Phase 2 site investigations, organise, supervise, and undertake environmental/geo-environmental site investigation and monitoring.
  • Comply with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, including preparation of H&S plans for site investigation and managing health and safety on site.
  • Prepare relevant Environmental Impact Assessment chapters.
  • Develop own competence and maintain CPD necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
  • Manage own work, including supporting senior management to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on budget, and to quality and client expectations.

Requirements

  • Higher education qualification in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology, geography, hydrogeology, chemistry, earth sciences, environmental science).
  • Demonstratable understanding of land contamination/brownfield land issues, including relevant codes of practice and industry standards.
  • Willingness to travel and undertake site-based work across the UK.

Desirable

  • Experience in working with geospatial data (GIS) using software such as QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
  • Experience in managing data on large projects, especially GIS data and AGS data.
  • Experience in site-based work, including supervision of trial pitting, drilling, and undertaking gas/vapour/leachate/groundwater and surface water monitoring/sampling.
