Senior Care Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Care Officer to join our team at Connect Family Support Team based within Elgar Hub. The purpose of the team is to provide support to families to help children stay safely at home wherever possible.

The successful candidate will work alongside the care team, CAMHS Systemic Practitioner, and Child Psychologist to create individualised packages of support for families. Where children cannot return to live with their families, good care planning needs to take place to ensure the child has everything they need for a successful transition into the next steps in their lives.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a child care setting, encompassing supervisory duties and working with children and young people with complex needs. They will work with the Home Manager and undertake duties commensurate with the needs of the Service.

The Senior Care Officer will be responsible for providing advice, support, and guidance on individualised care plans, as well as behaviour and general care/safeguarding of the young people in the home. They will work, supervise, and support staff who will be involved in the day-to-day running of the Home.

The role involves shift work and sleep overs at the Home. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic, responsive, and flexible team, working with children, young people, and families within the Community providing individualised support/care as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the care team to create individualised packages of support for families
  • Provide advice, support, and guidance on individualised care plans
  • Supervise and support staff involved in the day-to-day running of the Home
  • Work with the Home Manager to undertake duties commensurate with the needs of the Service
  • Participate in shift work and sleep overs at the Home

Requirements:

  • Previous experience within a child care setting
  • Supervisory duties and working with children and young people with complex needs
  • Qualification equivalent to or above NVQ 3 Level in a relevant Health and Social Care area of work
