Job Description

Adecco is seeking a highly skilled Vetting Officer to join our team at Cheshire Police. As a Vetting Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient administration of vetting services, supporting the requirements of the Vetting Code of Practice and APP for the Police Community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Assurance: Receive and validate requests for vetting, identifying anomalies and ensuring compliance with the Vetting APP.
  • Vetting Management: Manage, interrogate, and update Vetting Management systems containing sensitive information, ensuring accurate maintenance in line with Force requirements.
  • Research and Analysis: Undertake precise and detailed research of policing systems, Open Source, and information provided by third parties, aligning enquiries with the level of vetting required.
  • Case File Preparation: Prepare a case file containing appropriate information and a precis report, making a recommendation for granting or declining vetting status.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Understand and apply the Vetting Code of Practice and APP, as well as other associated documentation, to ensure compliance and efficient progression of applications.
  • Counter Terrorism Checks: Undertake checks on the Counter Terrorism database to ensure no associated links to extreme groups and activists.
  • Customer Support: Act as the first point of contact, providing advice to persons from the Force, various agencies, and members of the public, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with the Vetting APP.
  • Communication and Coordination: Initiate and transmit requests for checks to other Police Forces and agencies, chasing up enquiries to ensure expeditious completion.
Requirements:
  • Educated to Level 3 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) or with equivalent relevant experience.
  • Some experience in an administrative role (preferably customer-facing).
  • Some experience of working in an investigative, analytical, or research environment.
  • Competent in Niche/PNC/PND.
  • Ability to manage own workflow, prioritizing and completing work in a timely manner to meet departmental needs.
  • Attention to detail and ability to record information accurately.
  • Understanding of the importance of dealing with employee-related information appropriately within a sensitive and confidential environment.
  • Computer literacy, including working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels - both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the Vetting Code of Practice and Vetting APP.

Please note that due to Police criteria, you must have lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years continuously to apply for this position.
