Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Vetting Officer to join Cheshire Police.

This is a full time position working 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. You would be office based at their Winsford HQ.

This is a temporary post, initially until March 2025.

The role is to provide an effective and efficient service which supports the requirements of the Vetting Code of Practice and APP for the Police Community by: (i) administering/inputting vetting data; (ii) investigating and researching cases; and (iii) assessing results within the Force Vetting Unit.

Role Accountabilities:

Receive and validate requests for vetting by quality assuring applications, identifying anomalies which indicate that information provided may be incorrect or incomplete, rejecting these applications and any which are unauthorised, to ensure compliance with the Vetting APP.
Manage, interrogate, and update Vetting Management systems containing sensitive information in order to ensure said systems are accurately maintained in line with Force requirements.
Undertake precise and detailed research of policing systems, Opensource and information provided by third parties in accordance with the Vetting APP. Align enquiries with the level of vetting required in order to locate and identify relevant criminal records, intelligence, financial information, personal files and open source material.
Research, analyse and assess information, and judge for relevance identifying issues relating to individuals' suitability for employment.
Prepare a case file containing appropriate information and a precis report making a recommendation with regards to granting or declining vetting status, to assist the Vetting Manager and Deputy Vetting Manager in their assessments.
Understand and apply the Vetting Code of Practice and APP and other associated documentation (e.g. the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, Data Compliance and Code of Ethics) to ensure that the Force is compliant with the Vetting APP and that all applications are progressed efficiently in accordance with associated legislation.
Undertake checks on the Counter Terrorism database to ensure that there are no associated links to extreme groups and activists.
Act as first point of contact providing advice to persons from the Force, various agencies, and members of the public to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with the Vetting APP.
Initiate and transmit by email, requests for checks to other Police Forces and agencies, chasing up enquiries, to ensure expeditious completion.
Monitor the departmental mailbox and respond to all incoming emails.Experience, Qualifications & Skills:

Educated to Level 3 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) or with equivalent relevant experience.
Some experience in an administrative role (preferably customer-facing).
Some experience of working in an investigative, analytical or research environment.
Would need to be or become competent in Niche/PNC/PND.
Manage own workflow to ensure that work is prioritised and completed in a timely manner to meet departmental needs.
Attention to detail and ability to record information accurately.
Understanding of the importance of dealing with employee-related information appropriately within a sensitive and confidential environment.
Computer literacy including working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Ability to problem solve and work independently.
Effective communication skills at all levels - both verbally and in writing.
Have or be able to acquire and maintain knowledge of the Vetting Code of Practice and Vetting APP.PLEASE NOTE, DUE TO POLICE CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE LIVED IN THE UK FOR AT LEAST THE LAST 5 YEARS CONTINUOUSLY TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.
