About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CAD Engineer to join our team at Envisage Recruitment Limited. As a Senior CAD Engineer - Closures and Mechanisms, you will be responsible for leading the development of 2D and 3D models for closure and mechanism engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the BIW and Closures Lead Engineer in all day-to-day activities.
  • Lead the development of 2D and 3D models for closure and mechanism engineering.
  • Store and release data using TCUA and PLM.
  • Engineering BoM development. Cost and weight pack development.
  • PMXU generation – Part identification in BoM for unique or carryover status.
  • Design surface (CAS) feasibility FC-checks. Provide feasibility advice and guidance.
  • Engineering hard-point generation.
  • Implement recommendations where appropriate to create a right first-time release.
  • Participate in cross-functional integration reviews for components and systems, considering technical application, form, function, and harmonisation of the execution.
  • Drive closure of issues and establish the cost, weight, and timing impacts.
  • Support the module deliverables through to the programme required gateway.
  • Support the generation/development of design rules and guidelines.
  • Engineering Release activity in project support (UPV0 & UPV1).
  • Closures and mechanisms systems to include: Side closures, Tailgate, Hood, Drop-glass mechanisms, Drop-glass, Seals, Latches, Handles, IRVM, Roof systems – fixed glazed and panoramic, Wiper systems, Roof rails.
Requirements
  • CAD operation skills: Expectation for engineer to be able to create and manipulate geometry for primary communication of concepts/schemes.
  • Catia v5 operative skills; able to demonstrate high technical competence in generation of 3D geometry and sectional data.
  • Catia v6 experience, is desirable.
  • Experience of using TCUA (Team Centre) & PLM.
  • Experience of prior delivery of the designated module systems in the automotive sector.
  • Evidence of engineering skills, including ability to manage and resolve engineering issues.
  • Evidence of working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve results.
  • Compliance with company procedures and quality standards.
  • Involvement in process improvements.
