Principal Engineer - Water Design

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Water Design team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering water and wastewater projects through all stages of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and deliver water and wastewater projects from concept to commissioning and project handover.
  • Produce engineering design, assessment, and checking work, including calculations, written reports, and contract deliverables.
  • Develop and implement project controls and monitor progress against programmes.
  • Ensure design, assessments, and checking of designs comply with current standards, codes of practice, and best practice.
  • Build and develop a team of engineers, assisting their progression to Chartered status.
  • Coordinate work undertaken by external sub-contractors and design checkers.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships through project work.
  • Assist with the preparation of water and wastewater bids and tenders.
Requirements:
  • Achieved Chartered Engineer status (MICE, MCIWEM, MIStructE, or equivalent).
  • Water/wastewater design engineering background, working within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to coordinate project teams and supervise project delivery.
  • Experience in developing a team, with the ability to support, mentor, and develop less experienced engineers.
  • Key client accounts/frameworks management experience.
  • Skills in hydraulic design, Civil3D, and equivalent industry-standard hydraulic modelling design software.
  • Ideal experience performing designer's PM tasks under NEC3/4 to ensure effective delivery of a design scheme.
