Leeds, Leeds, United Kingdom The Children's Society Full time

Youth Emotional Wellbeing Service Manager

This is a permanent role with a focus on enhancing the emotional health and wellbeing of young individuals.

Salary: £38,390.76 Per annum

Our initiative aims to create a supportive environment for young people who are navigating emotional challenges.

The service operates during various hours to accommodate the needs of the community, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, all arranged in advance for flexibility.

Are you passionate about guiding a team that assists children and adolescents facing emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges?

The successful candidate will oversee the service, ensuring effective risk management and the ability to handle difficult situations. Collaboration with healthcare providers, social services, and other relevant organizations is essential.

We plan to provide drop-in sessions where young individuals can meet with trained professionals for one-on-one discussions about their struggles. Our service is designed to eliminate waiting lists, allowing for quick relationship building, risk identification, and timely support.

In addition to drop-in services, we will offer structured one-on-one sessions when appropriate.

The nature of our emotional health services requires the ability to quickly establish rapport, identify risks, and facilitate further assistance.

To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate the following:

Required Skills

  • Creative problem-solving abilities in new and challenging situations.
  • Extensive experience in leadership and management across diverse teams.
  • Capability to take initiative, supervise others, and coordinate tasks.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in IT applications.
  • Ability to apply therapeutic models in practice.
  • Experience in coordinating work schedules, including on-call duties.

Knowledge Base

  • In-depth understanding of common mental and emotional health issues affecting children and adolescents, informed by current research.
  • Clinical insight into emotional and mental health pathways within the relevant services.
  • Awareness of challenges faced by hard-to-reach youth regarding access to early intervention and crisis support.
  • Familiarity with local mental health support organizations.

Qualifications

  • A qualification in leadership or management.
  • A relevant professional qualification in health, social care, or youth work.

The Children's Society operates numerous local services that support thousands of young people in need, advocating for policy changes to improve their lives.

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting the children and young people we serve. All positions are subject to a thorough recruitment process, including background checks.

We encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds, particularly those from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities.

Candidates applying for roles within our Youth Impact Domain will be required to complete an employment history document prior to the interview process.
