Play Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Play Worker to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. As a Play Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality play opportunities for children and young people, promoting their wellbeing and enhancing their hospital experience.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of child development and be able to use their knowledge to create engaging and meaningful play experiences. They will work collaboratively with other members of the Play Team to ensure that all children and young people have access to play, regardless of their age or ability.
The role requires a flexible and adaptable individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with children, young people, and their families, as well as with other healthcare professionals.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Organise and facilitate play opportunities for individual children and groups of children and young people.
- Plan and adapt play sessions to meet the needs of each child or young person, taking into account their age, ability, and any specific needs they may have.
- Assist in the creation of a safe and welcoming play environment, ensuring that all equipment and materials are clean and well-maintained.
- Encourage and support parents and carers to engage in play with their child or young person, promoting a positive and inclusive experience.
- Develop and maintain a range of play activities that promote independence, wellbeing, and social skills.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Play Team to ensure that all children and young people have access to play, regardless of their age or ability.
- Communicate effectively with children, young people, and their families, as well as with other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate records of play activities and outcomes, ensuring that data is collected and reported in accordance with Trust standards.
