Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Autism Support Specialist to join our SEN unit in a primary school in Brixton, SE London. The successful candidate will work closely with a small group of pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) needs, providing tailored support to meet their individual requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with ASC, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop social skills.
- Assist in implementing individualised learning plans and behaviour strategies.
- Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to monitor progress and adjust support as needed.
- Foster a calm, supportive classroom environment that encourages learning and personal growth.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as an SEN Learning Support Assistant or in a related role working with children with Autism is highly desirable.
- Experience in a school setting is ideal, though candidates with backgrounds in social care or other relevant fields will also be considered.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
- A valid DBS check or willingness to obtain one through Reeson Education.
