St. James's Place is seeking a highly skilled Internal Controls Lead to join our Group Risk function. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in driving enhancements to our internal control approach to meet evolving regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities:- Evolving and documenting methodologies to support an uplifted Internal Control Framework, ensuring compliance with industry good practice and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Leading and guiding the business to deliver activities that strengthen the identification of key controls and the design/operation of controls.
- Improving internal controls awareness and adoption of the Controls Framework throughout the business, ensuring sufficient knowledge and understanding of the importance of the process and our reporting responsibilities.
- Developing and guiding the risk management system and reporting functionality to accurately and efficiently facilitate regulatory/financial reporting requirements.
- Providing controls specialist input and progress updates for various governance fora, including the Internal Control Project and Group Risk and Audit Committees.
- Financial Services experience, with a background in operational risk.
- Practical knowledge of implementing or operating internal control frameworks, including control assessment and testing methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build influential relationships and strong negotiation skills to monitor and challenge key risk and control assessments and mitigating activity.
- Highly organized with a flexible approach, ability to handle a range of tasks and adapt to changing priorities with ease.
- Non-Contributory Pension – 10% (increasing with length of service up to 15%) with further pension matching.
- Parental leave – 6 months full pay.
- 28 days holiday entitlement plus bank holidays (based on full-time equivalent) with the option to buy up to an additional 5 days holiday.
