Position Overview:

The Student Attendance and Well-being Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering a nurturing educational atmosphere at Galileo Global Education. This position focuses on the meticulous monitoring of student attendance, addressing the various personal, social, and academic challenges that may affect students. The individual in this role will be responsible for the entire attendance monitoring process, ensuring compliance with established attendance policies, developing efficient operational procedures, and maintaining accurate attendance records and reports.

Key Duties:

  • Oversee and record daily student attendance based on received notifications and reports, ensuring records are consistently updated.
  • Engage with students to discuss attendance-related concerns, provide guidance on best practices, and facilitate referrals for additional academic or pastoral support as necessary.
  • Identify and communicate instances of poor or extended absences to relevant stakeholders, adhering to established protocols and timelines.
  • Collaborate with the Student & Academic Services Manager and other teams to develop and implement a welfare reporting and tracking system aimed at addressing student welfare and attendance issues.
  • Manage documentation of absence evidence submitted by students, categorizing absences as excused or unexcused, and providing necessary pastoral support.
  • Issue formal letters regarding attendance concerns and engagement warnings, ensuring accurate records of all communications.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of meetings and interactions with students, focusing on their unique circumstances.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly attendance and welfare reports to Programme Leaders, tracking follow-up actions and ensuring timely communication of any concerns.
  • Generate various management reports, including attendance statistics and intervention outcomes, as required.
  • Actively contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing student attendance rates and overall student welfare.
  • Support the implementation of the Attendance and Engagement Policy, ensuring adherence to relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, in line with the responsibilities of the role.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Certification in safeguarding young individuals.
  • Prior experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Experience in providing advisory and/or pastoral support.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in managing spreadsheets, data, and student record systems.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate insightful reports.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
