Job Overview

Main Duties

You will work as an autonomous practitioner within a dedicated multidisciplinary hub, holding a caseload and working within the principles of the agreed model of care for the service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of care provided
  • Liaising with all agencies involved with clients
  • Participating in Quality Improvement (QI) projects within the team
  • Working within a duty rota, screening referrals, and taking part in the Transformation Agenda

Person Specification

Essential criteria include:

  • Registered Nurse (Mental/Learning Disability Nurse)
  • Experience working with people with mental health problems/learning disabilities within acute/forensic settings

Desirable criteria include:

  • Managing challenging and aggressive behavior
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Experience of working in a multicultural environment and knowledge of methods to develop culturally sensitive practice
Ability and Skills

Essential criteria include:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care
  • Understanding of de-escalation in the context of acute or forensic nursing

Desirable criteria include:

  • Emotional Intelligence: To understand the antecedents or factors that may have contributed to the patient's current presentation
  • Emotional Intelligence: To understand how your own experiences or approach may impact on others
Knowledge

Essential criteria include:

  • Care Programme Approach
  • NMC Code of Conduct
