About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Public Health Officer to join our Wellbeing, Public Health and Communities Team at Essex County Council.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and driving work across the Health and Wellbeing Partnerships in the county, focusing on key health risk factors such as smoking, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our communities and contribute to the achievement of our Business Plan goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement projects to address key health risk factors and improve health outcomes
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including NHS partners, to ensure effective collaboration and delivery
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on public health issues and develop strategies to address them
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of public health initiatives and make recommendations for improvement
Requirements
  • Education to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field, such as public health or a related service
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering projects successfully, with a strong understanding of public health principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach
