Job Description

As a Financial Operations Assistant at Asanaru, you will play a crucial role in supporting our finance department. Reporting to the Finance Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform thorough bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate stock records and reports, providing valuable insights for business decisions.
  • Input approved staff expenses in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring seamless financial operations.
  • Prepare and execute weekly payment runs, guaranteeing timely supplier payments and maintaining a positive cash flow.
  • Prepare and submit data for EU and UK VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Reconcile sales invoices and maintain the fixed asset register, providing a clear picture of our financial assets.
  • Conduct thorough financial due diligence on new suppliers, ensuring their credibility and reliability.
  • Review outstanding purchase orders for accrual purposes, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage prepayment schedules and product swap transactions, optimizing our financial resources.
  • Prepare accrual schedules and reconcile profit and loss and balance sheets, providing a comprehensive view of our financial performance.
  • Allocate posting of supplier and ancillary invoices, ensuring accurate financial recording.
  • Prepare weekly commercial reports and variance analysis, providing actionable insights for business improvement.
  • Conduct financial analysis and assist in forecasting, helping to drive business growth and success.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support various administrative tasks as required, contributing to the smooth operation of our finance department.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Financial Operations Assistant or similar role.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently, with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Professional, persuasive, empathetic, and able to handle conflict, with a positive attitude towards acquiring new skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment, with a strong focus on delivering results.
  • Proficient in database management, Excel (intermediate), Word, and Sage accounts, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new systems.
  • Ability to identify improvements and facilitate change, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Positive attitude towards acquiring new skills, with a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
Desirable:
  • Experience in a high-performing finance team, with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience with Sage 50, Navision, Excel, and Word, with a strong understanding of financial software systems.
  • AAT Qualification, with a strong foundation in accounting and finance principles.
