About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team at Mane Contract Services, a leading building services contractor. As a key member of our design team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality design solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Development and Coordination
    • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the construction industry, with a specific focus on the fit-out and refurbishment market in the healthcare sector.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver design development and coordination projects.
    • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of design information to stakeholders.
  • Tender Stage
    • Review and analyze design drawings to identify potential issues and discrepancies.
    • Collaborate with the estimating team to identify commercial opportunities and enhance our bid.
    • Liaise with clients' design teams to gather information and establish relationships.
    • Review design for potential value engineering opportunities.
    • Develop and agree design information release programs with stakeholders.
    • Assist the estimating team with design intent and review with specialist contractors.
    • Prepare architectural appreciation submissions for tender submissions.
    • Review and digest employers' requirements and design specifications.
    • Attend mid-bid and post-tender interviews to contribute to the successful bid process.
  • Post-Award and Pre-Construction Phase
    • Collaborate with the pre-construction delivery team to prepare for the construction phase.
    • Review construction issue drawings and identify changes or variations.
    • Check construction issued drawings for completeness and compliance with specifications.
    • Prepare detailed and comprehensive information required schedules.
    • Develop drawing information release schedules and plot into the pre-construction/construction phase program.
    • Prepare definitive schedules of samples required and issue key milestone dates for submission and approval.
    • Identify, arrange, and manage mock-ups and benchmarks.
    • Assist with order placing to ensure trades packages are fully compliant.
    • Manage the flow of design information up and down the supply chain.
  • Construction Phase
    • Arrange, manage, and chair design team meetings.
    • Review works on site for quality and compliance.
    • Ensure contractors' proposals are timely and fully followed through.
    • Maintain design information release and distribution in a timely manner.
    • Work with technical services managers to ensure full coordination is managed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
    • Work closely with the delivery team to maintain program in respect of information and drawing requirements.
    • Review issues raised by building control.
    • Review and monitor progress and quality on site.
    • Assist with the snagging process and record findings.
  • Post-PC Responsibilities
    • Review as-built drawings for accuracy and compliance.
    • Work with the delivery team to secure building control sign-off.
    • Be an integral part of the handover process.
