Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated full-time Research Technician to join our esteemed Cancer Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (CMDL) at the University of Cambridge.

About the CMDL: The CMDL serves as a vital resource within the Integrated Cancer Medicine Programme, focusing on the application of advanced genomic techniques for the improved diagnosis and management of cancer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analytical molecular pathology assessments, including nucleic acid extraction, quantification, PCR, sequencing, and library preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS).
  • Process patient samples, primarily focusing on blood components such as buffy coat, plasma, PBMC, and granulocyte isolation.
  • Manage a portion of the laboratory workload while ensuring high-quality performance and maintaining thorough audit trails of all activities.
  • Write and update essential documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Input data into the laboratory's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Additional Duties: The role also includes routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, monitoring stock levels, and managing the ordering and receipt of consumables.
