The Supplier Relationship Manager will oversee the management of supplier partnerships within the UK and Ireland, focusing on both proactive and reactive suppliers linked to specific customer contracts.
This position demands a strategic mindset to aid in the formulation and execution of procurement strategies that prioritize cost-effectiveness, quality, and supplier dependability.
The role encompasses the management of supplier interactions, contract negotiations, and collaboration with internal teams to fulfill organizational and client objectives.
Collaboration with the supplier management team and procurement operations is essential to ensure supplier compliance, while working closely with store operations teams to address any emerging supplier-related issues.
You will establish robust oversight and assurance processes, utilizing data-driven insights to monitor supplier performance and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
A critical aspect of this role involves leading the supplier management enhancement program, taking ownership of supplier performance, and implementing governance aligned with procurement best practices to enable effective measurement and management of supplier performance and associated risks.
This strategic supplier management approach will aim to set targets that enhance value from supplier relationships, fostering partnerships that drive innovative solutions and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all supplier relationships and ensure contract compliance for assigned suppliers.
- Cultivate strong engagement and trust with clients, responding promptly to inquiries and utilizing performance metrics to showcase achievement of service targets.
- Assist in the development of category strategies.
- Implement a regular supplier audit schedule to assure compliance with health and safety regulations and other critical compliance areas.
- Collaborate with clients to establish annual budgets, ensuring alignment with the broader procurement team to deliver services within budget constraints.
- Serve as the escalation point for all supplier-related matters.
- Monitor financial performance by tracking actual expenditures against budgets, addressing any discrepancies.
- Work with the finance team to resolve supplier payment and accounting issues.
- Build strong relationships with store operations teams.
- Conduct in-store visits and engage directly with senior clients on all relevant issues.
- Collaborate with the procurement and finance teams to manage budgets effectively, optimizing value while maintaining service quality.
- Review management information to ensure customer KPIs and statutory obligations are met or exceeded.
- Manage the closure of PPM tasks and certifications in areas lacking a National Manager or Specialist.
- Develop a standardized reporting framework for key supplier relationships, providing updates to the broader team and clients as necessary.
- Support reactive job delivery and the quoting process with field teams in cases of supply chain disruptions.
- Facilitate regular monthly service reviews with assigned suppliers.
* Investigate supplier escalations, assess situations, and ensure corrective action plans are implemented, coordinating responses with the procurement team as needed.
Incident Management:
- Communicate any significant breaches or escalations to the head of supplier management and the Head of Procurement.
- Ensure effective implementation of escalation and critical incident management processes to safeguard service delivery.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives within the assigned supply chain.
- Foster a culture of safety within the team, ensuring thorough reporting and investigation of potential hazards or incidents.
- Collaborate with Sourcing Managers and the client onboarding team to ensure effective contract mobilization post-award.
- Promote supplier development to identify efficiencies and innovative solutions that enhance value for the organization and its clients.
- Work with the strategic supplier management lead to integrate performance management programs across all suppliers.
- Collaborate with the wider business and support teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and best practices.
- Ensure alignment with operational teams to promote a unified approach in supplier dealings.
- Manage the overall achievement of objectives in line with the business strategy.
Financial Oversight:
The Supplier Relationship Manager will collaborate with the procurement team to ensure that contract charges accurately reflect the services provided.
Additionally, the Manager will work with finance and procurement teams to review spending patterns, assisting in budget preparation as needed.
Furthermore, the Manager is expected to positively influence the company's profitability through effective contract savings.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
While the Supplier Relationship Manager will not have direct reports, they will be expected to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including clients, procurement teams, and field operations.
Qualifications:
5 years of experience in procurement or supplier management, preferably within the facilities management or retail sectors.
CIPS qualification or equivalent is preferred.
A solid understanding of maintenance services within the facilities management industry is advantageous, along with experience in a multi-site contracted environment.
