As a Community Safety Officer (CSO), you will serve as a vital presence within the communities of Hampshire and Isle of Wight, ensuring visibility and accessibility.

Your responsibilities will include crime deterrence and community engagement through the establishment of partnerships with residents, educational institutions, and various organizations.

  • Participate in community gatherings
  • Foster strong connections with local residents
  • Assist in maintaining safety at the community level
  • Conduct neighborhood patrols and serve as a point of contact for residents
  • Offer support and reassurance to individuals affected by crime
  • Assist in inquiries related to missing persons
  • Play a crucial role in enhancing the relationship between law enforcement and the community


Your starting salary will range from £24,921 to £27,351 per annum (Scale 4), along with additional weekend enhancement payments and a shift allowance that could total approximately £4,800 per annum, contingent on your shift schedule, payable following the completion of initial training.

You will also receive a fully-funded professional qualification - Level 4 Diploma in Community Policing Practice.

As an apprentice CSO, your practical training will also lead to accreditation with a Level 4 Diploma in Community Policing Practice.

Being a CSO is essential in helping us achieve our Force Priorities of Relentlessly Pursuing Criminals, Putting Victims First, and Delivering Exceptional Local Policing. Therefore, your training program will be dynamic and designed to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in your position.
