Job Title: Engineering Team Leader

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Engineering Team Leader to drive improvements in production efficiencies, maintenance, and improvement programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing best practices, team development, and supporting the Engineering strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Asset Care: Uphold, develop, and deliver robust Asset care through professional maintenance, ensuring optimal equipment performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Health and Safety: Report near misses, ensure health and safety actions are closed out, and maintain a safe working environment for the team and others.
  • Engineering Support: Review downtime data, prioritize engineering support, and conduct RCA on machinery failures to implement long-term fixes.
  • PPMs and Spare Parts: Review current PPMs, align with manufacturers' recommendations, and support the development of stores and spare parts/critical spares stock requirements for asset care.
  • GMP and Workshop Standards: Improve, uphold, and sustain GMP and workshop standards versus target, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Tool Box Audits and Shift Handovers: Own tool box audits, lead shift handover meetings, and ensure accurate shift reports.
  • Shutdown Maintenance and Weekend Planning: Plan and execute shutdown maintenance requirements, support weekend planning, and attend weekend meetings.
  • Team Briefs and Business Reports: Deliver team briefs and business reports on a weekly/monthly basis, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
  • Time and Attendance: Ensure time and attendance of engineers is upheld, maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.
  • H&S Champion: Act as H&S Champion, ensuring safe working practices and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Shift Manning and Apprentice Development: Ensure shifts are adequately manned at all times, support apprentice development, and provide guidance and mentorship.
  • Legislative Compliance and Audit Compliance: Ensure legislative compliance and audit compliance duties are met, maintaining a high level of regulatory adherence.
  • Standard Setting Manuals: Create standard setting manuals for all equipment available, ensuring consistency and accuracy.

Scope of Responsibility: The Engineering Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring the engineering team is managed and in full control, ensuring all Company policies and procedures are enforced and adhered to.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Recommended Spares Availability: Ensure recommended spares for each line are available, minimizing downtime and optimizing production.
  • Engineer Workload and Development: Monitor and manage engineer workload, ensuring adequate development and training opportunities.
  • PPM Compliance: Maintain high levels of PPM compliance, ensuring optimal equipment performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Use of Integrated Management System: Ensure the effective use of the integrated management system, maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.
  • Site Downtime Reduction: Work towards reducing site downtime as per target, minimizing losses and optimizing production.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 18th Edition: Hold a valid 18th edition certification.
  • Team Management Experience: Possess experience in managing teams, with a proven track record of success.
  • Food Factory Environment: Experience working in a food factory environment would be advantageous.
  • Apprenticeship and Packing Experience: Fully complete apprenticeship is desirable, with packing experience.
  • Basic Computer Literacy: Possess basic computer literacy skills.
  • Communication and Motivation: Able to communicate and motivate others, with a strong focus on team development.
  • Understanding of Internal Systems and Processes: Understand internal systems and processes, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Health and Safety Requirements: Understand health and safety requirements, with a strong focus on compliance.
  • Self-Driven and Results-Oriented: Self-driven, results-oriented, with a positive disposition and a flexible approach to work.

Management Ability: The post holder must be able to work under pressure, both as part of a team and on their own initiative, with a strong focus on delivering results and achieving targets.
