About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Railway Operator Driver/Fitter to join our team at Colas Rail UK. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for driving, operating, and maintaining on-track machines in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive and operate on-track machines in accordance with railway standards and customer instructions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machines, including daily and weekly checks.
  • Report and log all service faults and failures, and communicate with the maintenance team and customers as necessary.
  • Operate in a safe and competent manner, adhering to all relevant rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure machines are maintained to the required standard.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with site customers.
  • Conduct pre-start safety checks and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed.
  • Assist with machine breakdowns and repairs, and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Valid driving license and ability to drive on-track machines.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with machinery maintenance.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Pass medical tests and maintain a positive attitude and sense of professional pride.
