Youth and Child Victim Support Advocate

Key Responsibilities:

This position is based in our office and requires travel within the designated area. As a Y&C Support Advocate, your responsibilities will include:

Effectively managing a caseload of self-referrals or referred clients, delivering outstanding services that align with the objectives of our commissioners and support victims. Ensuring that each victim receives personalized and tailored support that meets their unique needs, with a focus on addressing complex requirements throughout all processes and decisions. Conducting risk and needs assessments to identify the specific needs of clients, adhering to operational procedures while following relevant safeguarding policies and collaborating with safeguarding leads and other organizations to ensure a comprehensive approach to any safeguarding issues. Providing information and advocacy to assist clients in navigating and comprehending the criminal justice system, ensuring their rights are upheld in accordance with the Victims Code of Practice, which may include criminal, legal, and, when applicable, civil remedies.

Required Qualifications:

A solid understanding of the challenges faced by children and young people who experience disadvantage or crime. Knowledge of confidentiality and safe working practices in line with safeguarding and data protection regulations. A proven history of working with children or young people, or experience in supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse. Excellent communication skills with the ability to adjust style and approach to cater to diverse audiences. Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage competing demands in an organized manner. Strong IT and administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. High resilience and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
