Position OverviewThe Senior Solar Solution Engineer is an integral part of the Group Technical department, reporting directly to the Solar Lead. This role involves providing expertise for solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, particularly during the design and permitting stages. Responsibilities encompass layout design, techno-economic optimization, and conducting resource and yield assessments.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Solar Solution Engineer will:
- Conduct feasibility studies;
- Perform solar resource and energy yield assessments;
- Lead the techno-economic optimization of solar projects, focusing on solar PV system design and its implications for the Balance of System;
- Execute various analyses to support project development;
- Mentor and support junior team members;
- Assist the procurement team in supplier negotiations;
- Carry out ad-hoc analyses and develop tools as needed.
The Senior Solar Solution Engineer may also leverage their expertise to assist other sectors of the business across RES' regional markets.
- Understanding of statistical methods;
- Familiarity with the Solar PV sector and the design of utility-scale Solar PV projects. International experience is a plus.
- Excellent report writing capabilities and meticulous attention to detail;
- Strong time management abilities;
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in utility-scale Solar PV projects, whether as a Developer, EPC contractor, or Technical Advisor/Owner Engineer.
- Experience collaborating on multidisciplinary projects;
- Proficiency in PVSyst or similar PV simulation software;
- Experience in performance testing of Solar PV systems is advantageous;
- Experience in designing for constructability and installation is beneficial;
- Experience with GIS tools is advantageous;
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python is a plus.
- A degree in Engineering or a Science discipline;
- Alternatively, a relevant trade or non-vocational background with suitable experience.
