Building trusted relationships at all organizational levels is essential, as is the ability to communicate information clearly and confidently to senior leaders while constructively challenging them based on data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Strategy and Performance Lead is a senior position within our Business Strategy and Planning team, which is integral to our mission.

As part of a compact team, your focus will be on ensuring that our operations are purposeful, well-defined, and strategically aligned. The team is responsible for:
  • Strategic planning, governance, project and program management, and risk management.
  • Providing support to the organization’s private office.

Our mission, established by the Environment Act 2021, is to hold government and public bodies accountable through various means, including monitoring progress against environmental targets, advising on legislative changes, and addressing public complaints that may lead to enforcement actions.

With a dedicated workforce of over 70, we are a dynamic and flexible organization operating across England, Northern Ireland, and UK government-reserved environmental matters.

Key Duties:

As the Senior Strategy and Performance Lead, you will:
  • Guide our understanding of strategy implementation and outcomes, facilitating responsive actions.
  • Act as a critical internal advisor to the Executive Committee and Board, ensuring alignment with our mission and objectives.
  • Enhance our strategic management information systems, ensuring the Executive Committee and Board receive timely, accurate, and actionable insights.
  • Develop and implement:
    • A robust program management framework, including change controls and performance monitoring.
    • A prioritization strategy for our work program to maximize resource efficiency.
    • A comprehensive risk management framework, supporting the governance bodies in strategic risk oversight.
    • Impact measurement methodologies, including specific evaluation projects.
    • Performance indicators and reporting mechanisms for stakeholders.

Organizational Planning:

You will lead our project management team, ensuring effective project management practices are integrated throughout our operations to meet planned objectives within time and budget constraints.

Additionally, you will support the Head of Business Strategy and Planning in the development and execution of our corporate strategy, including:
  • Collaborating with leadership to formulate and review our organizational business plan.
  • Assisting in resource allocation within governmental planning frameworks.
  • Creating the corporate plan for public dissemination.
