We have various positions available across multiple teams, including:
- Community Treatment Services: Engaging in assessments, coordinating care, and collaborating with partners to assist individuals. Responsibilities include delivering structured psycho-social interventions in both group and individual settings to help service users develop essential skills for lasting change.
- Outreach for Homeless Individuals: Focusing on those experiencing homelessness, providing flexible and responsive support to highly vulnerable individuals who may be sleeping rough or residing in temporary accommodations.
- Rehabilitation Services within Criminal Justice: Collaborating closely with Probation Services, correctional facilities, and law enforcement to offer prompt, tailored support for individuals in their recovery and rehabilitation journeys.
As a Substance Use Recovery Specialist, you will receive a competitive starting salary of £24,150, with annual progression opportunities up to £28,252, depending on experience. Additionally, a recruitment and retention allowance ranging from £2,172 to £2,542 will be provided based on your background. Detailed information will be shared during the interview process.
You will have the chance to advance your career through a structured learning pathway, enabling you to achieve your long-term aspirations while leveraging your strengths.
Whether your goal is to move into management or to specialize as an Advanced Substance Use Practitioner, Turning Point is committed to supporting your professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Recovery Specialists serve as 'key workers' for a designated caseload of clients, assisting them in setting treatment goals and formulating plans to reach those objectives. This role involves maintaining regular communication with clients, providing guidance, information, and psycho-social interventions, as well as conducting assessments and risk management planning in collaboration with clinical staff and partner organizations. Each day presents unique challenges, requiring effective communication with diverse service users and colleagues, strong multitasking abilities, and a commitment to the values upheld by Turning Point.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of substance and alcohol use, along with the challenges faced by individuals on their recovery journey. We also welcome applicants with transferable skills from other sectors such as mental health, housing, or health and social care. Flexibility, the ability to work dynamically in both one-on-one and group settings, and knowledge of relapse and recovery barriers are essential, though we are prepared to help develop these skills as needed. Strong communication skills and alignment with our organizational values are crucial. We value candidates with lived experience as well as those who are simply passionate about this field; our Trainee Recovery Specialist program offers entry-level opportunities for individuals without extensive experience.
We encourage creativity and initiative in all roles, and you will be actively involved in identifying ways to enhance service quality and user experience. Your insights will be valued, and we will strive to implement your suggestions whenever feasible. Comprehensive training will be provided to help you develop your skills, and our learning culture promotes staying informed about the latest advancements in the field, driving service improvement.
