Position Overview

The Educational Support Facilitator will collaborate closely with educational staff and families to empower our students and young individuals to thrive in their learning environments while acquiring essential life skills in accordance with their Education Health Care Plans (EHCP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the implementation of the educational curriculum.
  • Provide emotional and academic support to students to ensure they can effectively engage with their educational experience on a daily basis.
  • Assist students in achieving the annual objectives outlined in their EHCP.
  • Coordinate with clinical, teaching, and support personnel to exchange effective support strategies.
  • Contribute to the creation and/or assessment of all support documentation, including risk assessments and individual learning plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist in the preparation of routine reports as necessary.
  • Exhibit physical fitness and energy.
  • Provide temporary coverage for classroom teaching support when required.
  • Demonstrate resilience; this role is rewarding yet presents its own challenges.
  • Show a genuine passion for transforming the lives of young individuals with Learning Disabilities and Autism.
  • Exhibit empathy and patience in all interactions.

About Our Institution

The Shires - Oakham is an Independent Special School catering to 11-18 year-olds with Autism and related diagnoses and special educational needs. We provide a tailored curriculum to secondary-aged students who have faced challenges in mainstream or larger special educational settings, often working below age-expected levels. Students are taught in small groups of 4-5, ensuring a high staff-to-student ratio. Our focus is on helping students achieve their outcomes as outlined in their Education Health Care Plans, develop vital life skills, and earn accreditations in core subjects.
