About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Supervisor to join our team at NELFT NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Clinical Supervisor, you will play a key role in overseeing the treatment and management plans for children, young people, and parents managed by Children's Wellbeing Practitioners and CBT practitioners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for children, young people, and parents, ensuring evidence-based interventions are used.
  • Support children, young people, and families in self-managing mental health difficulties, promoting resilience and well-being.
  • Collaborate with children, young people, and families to develop intervention plans and agree on outcomes, ensuring a holistic approach to care.
  • Operate from an inclusive values base, recognizing and respecting diversity, and promoting equality of opportunity.
  • Accept referrals and adhere to national and local service protocols, ensuring seamless care pathways.
  • Conduct accurate risk assessments for clients, identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Maintain coherent records of activities, using data to inform decisions and improve services.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and communities to enhance access to mental health support, promoting a culture of partnership and collaboration.
  • Provide joint specialist assessments and treatments, and supervise trainees in the NELFT London CAMHS teams, ensuring high-quality training and development.
  • Evaluate trainees' readiness to work independently with clients and interventions, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Communicate assessment, formulation, and treatment plans in a skilled and sensitive manner, ensuring effective collaboration with children, young people, and families.
  • Support trainees in liaising with education, health, social care, and voluntary sector staff involved in client care, promoting a seamless care pathway.

The Training & Supervision

The trainees will undertake a postgraduate diploma training for 1 year, hosted by Kings College London (KCL) for CWP and UCL for CBT. The CWP trainees will be trained to offer brief, focused evidence-based interventions in the form of low-intensity support and guided self-help to young people who demonstrate mild/moderate anxiety, low mood, and common behavioural difficulties.

Person Specification
  • Appropriate qualification to be an existing senior CYPMHS clinician, training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, specific psychological therapy, or related field.
  • Two years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience of supervising CYPMHS clinicians and trainees.
  • Experience of working with evidence-based approaches to low mood, anxiety, and behaviour problems.
Key Skills and Qualities
  • High level knowledge of the theory and practice of psychological interventions.
  • High level skills in working with professional networks and the ability to advocate for and advance the mental health needs of parents and their children.
  • Ability to chair team meetings, undertake delegated management tasks, and support the CYPMHS Service Manager in general team tasks/development as required.
  • Effectively manage a clinical caseload, complete outcomes measures routinely, update clinical records in line with team, service, and Trust requirements.
