Position Overview:

This role is integral to the Young People's Housing Related Support Service, which is designed to assist young individuals in navigating their housing needs. The service is provided through a collaborative effort among various organizations, with Leeds City Council leading the initiative. The program aims to offer a comprehensive range of interventions aimed at preventing homelessness, including supported housing options and pre- and post-tenancy assistance for young people, including those transitioning from care.

Key Responsibilities:

As a member of the Locality team, you will be stationed at our community hub, focusing on providing housing-related support to young individuals aged 16 to 25. Your primary goal will be to help them cultivate their independent living skills within a supportive environment.

We seek an individual who is dedicated to delivering exceptional services to young people, empowering them to realize their potential and achieve independence.

Main Duties Include:

  • Adopting a trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with young individuals, addressing behavioral challenges and celebrating their successes.
  • Establishing supportive and professional relationships with young people, guiding them towards community opportunities as outlined in their support plans (such as leisure, education, and training) and assisting them in participation as needed.
  • Engaging positively with young individuals to tackle issues related to motivation, aspirations, emotional well-being, and confidence enhancement.
  • Facilitating the development of essential life skills, including domestic, parenting, and social skills, to help sustain a tenancy and create a stable home environment.
  • Exploring various housing options, including assisting with applications and supporting young individuals during housing assessments.
