Position Overview
We are pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to become part of the GI Services Division on a full-time basis. This division encompasses both surgical and medical specialties focused on the management of conditions affecting the digestive system.
Reporting to the General Manager (or designated representative), the Lower GI Coordination Specialist will oversee the management of suspected cancer pathways and ensure the effective scheduling of patients for necessary outpatient or diagnostic procedures. This role is crucial in facilitating a seamless patient journey for cancer patients from initial referral through to diagnosis and treatment, while also ensuring compliance with Cancer Waiting Time Targets, particularly the 28-day faster diagnosis standard.
Candidate Profile
We are in search of a proactive and highly driven individual with prior experience in the NHS. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of meeting demanding performance objectives while maintaining a commitment to high-quality, patient-centered services. Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, along with a positive and solution-oriented mindset, are essential.
A collaborative team player, you will excel in communicating effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders across various levels of seniority.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a patient-focused approach, embodying the core values of the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Assistant General Manager, the Lower GI Coordination Specialist will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Delivering high-quality administrative support to the Division and assisting in the efficient operation of the multi-disciplinary team meetings as required.
- Managing new referrals for suspected LGI cancers and coordinating patient bookings for relevant outpatient or diagnostic assessments.
- Facilitating the coordination of an effective patient pathway for cancer patients from referral through to diagnosis and treatment, ensuring adherence to Cancer Waiting Time Targets.
- Contributing to initiatives aimed at service enhancement and quality assurance to promote efficient patient pathways and improve reporting quality.
- Supporting clinical teams in delivering a positive patient experience.
- Serving as a resource for advice and support in resolving non-routine issues or LGI cancer-related concerns.
