Job Title: GIS Architect / Lead GIS Designer
Job Summary:
Cognizant is seeking a highly skilled GIS Architect / Lead GIS Designer to join our Geosolutions team. As a key member of our team, you will lead the development and implementation of GIS solutions, ensuring that spatial data and mapping technologies align to the client project and strategic needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architectural Design: Develop and maintain the overall GIS architecture, including data models, application frameworks, and integration strategies. Ensure the architecture supports scalability, performance, and security requirements.
- Project Leadership: Lead GIS projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners to gather requirements and define project scope.
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to GIS analysts, developers, and other team members. Recommend new tools and techniques as appropriate, leveraging knowledge of the latest GIS technologies and trends.
- Data Management: Oversee the collection, storage, and analysis of spatial data, ensuring data integrity and quality. Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures.
- User Support: Provide support and training to end-users, helping them effectively utilize GIS tools and applications. Ensure user documentation and training materials are up-to-date and available.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure GIS products meet standards and user expectations by conducting regular reviews and audits of GIS projects and processes.
- Budget Management: Assist in the preparation and management of the GIS budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Leadership Experience: Demonstrate experience in a leadership or architectural role with proven experience in managing GIS projects and teams.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL). Experience with cloud-based GIS solutions and enterprise GIS architecture is required.
- Knowledge of Spatial Databases: Have knowledge of spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS, Oracle Spatial).
