Job Title: Commercial Underwriter

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + Bonus

Location: Colchester - Hybrid

Purpose of Role:

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Underwriter to join our team in Colchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting specialist commercial lines, including property, liability, and financial lines, on a new and existing business basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite commercial products in line with underwriting standards
  • Work towards set targets each month, including profitability, conversion, and productivity
  • Develop sales skills and underwriting strategy in collaboration with the wider teams
  • Effectively negotiate with brokers and key stakeholders
  • Underwrite larger, more complex risks that come through the branch
Requirements:
  • Experience as an underwriter within commercial lines of business
  • Logical and analytical thinking
  • Strong development skills
  • Ambitious and driven, with the ability to self-motivate and achieve results
  • Diploma CII qualified or exempt through relevant experience as defined by the FCA
