About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Policy Adviser to join our team at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). Key Responsibilities
  • Developing Policy Positions
    • Work with CBI members to develop and refine policy positions on key issues affecting businesses in the UK.
    • Conduct research and analysis to inform policy decisions and recommendations.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, business leaders, and industry experts.
  • Maintaining Stakeholder Relationships
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with external contacts, including government officials, members of parliament, and business leaders.
    • Represent the CBI at meetings and events to influence policy decisions.
  • Collaborating with Colleagues
    • Work closely with colleagues across the CBI, including press, communications, public affairs, and account management teams.
    • Contribute to the development of high-quality analytical work and policy briefs.
    • Take ownership of specific projects and events, and build partnerships to deliver results.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Experience
    • Strong understanding of the policymaking process in the UK government.
    • Experience working in a policy or related role, preferably in a business or industry association.
    • Demonstrable interest in politics and public policy.
    • Familiarity with the workings of business and commercial pressures.
  • Skills and Qualities
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
