Join Our Team as a Senior Policy Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy Advisor to join our Consumer Finance Policy team at the Financial Conduct Authority. As a key member of our team, you will play a leading role in protecting UK financial services consumers by developing and implementing rules and guidance that apply to firms providing consumer credit products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on policy projects to enhance consumer protection and ensure credit and debt markets work effectively in the interests of UK consumers.
  • Contribute to the development of policy proposals and present recommendations to senior colleagues.
  • Maintain external and internal stakeholder relationships, including HM Treasury, consumer and trade bodies, and regulated firms.
  • Support colleagues across the FCA to develop and maintain a coherent approach to consumer finance issues.
  • Work on challenging issues, taking an active role in solving difficult policy issues.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience of policy making or experience of the consumer credit regulatory regime.
  • Proven experience of building and managing relationships with stakeholders from government departments and industry lobbyists.
  • A collaborative and flexible approach, and the ability to think creatively about new regulatory approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop evidence-based policy drawing on quantitative and qualitative sources.
