Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Dispensary Coordinator to join our Pharmacy team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the day-to-day operation of the Pharmacy Dispensary, ensuring a safe and effective service is provided to patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordinating and supervising the dispensary service, ensuring compliance with Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP 2013/C 343/01) and other relevant medicine regulations and quality standards.
  • Monitoring service quality through agreed performance metrics and ensuring facilities and services comply with relevant standards.
  • Assisting in staff training and supervision, including mentoring and coaching Pharmacy Assistants and new starters.
  • Undertaking dispensing of prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner, using professional knowledge to ensure duties are performed in accordance with Good Dispensing Practice.
  • Providing support and guidance to Pharmacy Assistants and new starters, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English, at Grade C or above. They will also have NVQ / QCF Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or be willing to work towards it. Dispensing accuracy accreditation is also essential. Desirable qualifications include completed or willing to work towards Management and Leadership competencies.

The successful candidate will have recent practical experience in a busy dispensing environment, managing their own workload to meet the needs of the service. They will also have experience of training individuals, supervising, directing, organising and monitoring performance in a high-pressure environment. Experience of leading teams and staff management is also desirable.
