Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Dispensary Coordinator to join our team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dispensary service.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and organized individual to take on a supervisory role in our dispensary team. You will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the day-to-day operation of the dispensary, ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP 2013/C 343/01) and relevant department procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating and supervising the dispensary team to ensure efficient and safe service delivery.
  • Monitoring service quality through agreed performance metrics and implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Ensuring compliance with Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP 2013/C 343/01) and other relevant medicine regulations and quality standards.
  • Assisting in staff training and supervision, including the development of Pharmacy Assistants and new starters.
  • Undertaking dispensing of prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner, using professional knowledge to ensure that such duties are performed in accordance with Good Dispensing Practice.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with a strong background in pharmacy services, who possesses excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in a supervisory role, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality services in a fast-paced environment.

Essential qualifications include a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English, at Grade C or above, and NVQ / QCF Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent. Dispensing accuracy accreditation is also required.

Desirable qualifications include completed or willing to work towards Management and Leadership competencies, and experience of training individuals, supervising, directing, organizing, and monitoring performance in a high-pressure environment.
