Commissioning Editor for Plays

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is seeking a Commissioning Editor for Plays to join their historic Methuen Drama imprint. This role involves commissioning and managing play publications, working closely with the Senior Publisher.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for theatre and experience in project management, with the ability to work efficiently and to a high standard of editorial accuracy.
The Commissioning Editor for Plays will be responsible for commissioning new plays, maintaining a large backlist of plays, and working with the Drama Online team.
The role requires attending press nights and launch events, representing Methuen Drama in professional settings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Commissioning new plays and managing play publications
- Maintaining a large backlist of plays, play anthologies, and play collections
- Assisting the Drama Online team with editorial queries
- Representing Methuen Drama at press nights and launch events
The successful candidate will have experience within the publishing industry or related skills in licensing, estate management, or work within a literary agent.
