Electric Vehicle Smart Charging Policy Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced policy advisor to join our team at the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero. As a Senior Policy Advisor for Electric Vehicle Smart Charging, you will play a key role in shaping the UK's policy on electric vehicle smart charging, working closely with government departments and stakeholders to accelerate the deployment of bidirectional charging technology.
About the RoleThis is a demanding role that requires a strong understanding of policy development and implementation, as well as excellent communication and influencing skills. You will be responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of work across government departments to unlock barriers to V2X technology, capturing policy learnings from government-funded innovation work, and working with department analysts and externally commissioned partners to understand the potential of V2X.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate a strong passion for working in this area, experience of designing and implementing policy or strategies in a civil service or external environment, and the ability to work collaboratively with people across teams and organisations. You will also need to be able to think strategically, able to join the dots between different issues and able to step back and see the big picture.
