About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at McCain Foods. As a key member of our factory operations team, you will be responsible for carrying out first-line maintenance tasks and improvements on equipment throughout the factory efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide feedback on completed tasks into the engineering maintenance system to ensure equipment histories and costs are kept up to date and to enable follow-up work to be identified and planned.
  • Maintain all aspects of the plant relating to electrical, mechanical, control, and automation, to ensure reliability, integrity, and efficiency.
  • Work safely, with regard for your duty of care to yourself and to others who may be affected by your work. Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Enter accurate, detailed feedback on all completed tasks into the CMMS on a daily basis.
  • Work closely with your Line Manager to ensure the smooth execution of both day-to-day maintenance tasks and shutdown work.
  • Ensure the upkeep and reliability of all plant and equipment in your shift's designated area by feeding back requirements to your Line Manager.
  • Identify through knowledge and analysis, areas that will contribute to improved product quality or plant efficiency.
  • Play a pivotal role in communicating and coordinating the activities associated with change.
  • Support the driving improvements initiative on site, and understand and implement the basic principles of lean manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Up to City & Guilds level 3 in a relevant discipline.
  • NVQ L3 or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • ONC or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Multi-skilled qualification in an opposite discipline (NVQ L2 / City & Guilds).
  • Broad knowledge of modern maintenance techniques.
  • Wide-ranging knowledge of engineering practical fundamentals.
  • 'Allen Bradley' / Rockwell Automation PLC / HMI / programming (desirable).
  • Health and Safety - IOSH qualified (desirable).
  • Managing safely and Intermediate food hygiene certificates (desirable).
  • Practical engineering experience including legislation.

Where will I work?

You will mainly be based at our Wombourne plant in Staffordshire, where you will work as part of a small but perfectly formed team of over 110 colleagues to produce our famous potato Smiles and pre-baked Jacket Spuds.
