Safety and Compliance Supervisor

Position Overview
We are in search of a committed and proactive Safety and Compliance Supervisor. The ideal candidate will oversee health and safety protocols throughout the organization, ensuring that the highest standards are maintained while addressing all health and safety issues across multiple locations.
Main Responsibilities
1. Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies.
2. Ensure adherence to ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management standards.
3. Conduct regular internal audits and site inspections to verify compliance.
4. Create and review risk assessments, ensuring they are current and comprehensive.
5. Ensure compliance with COSHH Regulations.
6. Regularly review BMS procedures and collaborate with process owners.
7. Provide guidance to senior management on health and safety matters.
8. Identify potential hazards and implement effective solutions to minimize accident risks.
Collaboration and Leadership
Work closely with various stakeholders on improvement initiatives and take ownership of project outcomes.
Chair the Health and Safety Committee, facilitating regular meetings to ensure that actions are aligned with risk levels, appropriately delegated, and completed promptly.
Training and Development
Identify health and safety competency needs, recognize skills gaps, and coordinate with the Learning and Development Coordinator to arrange suitable training.
Data Management
Act as the custodian of the Health & Safety Portal, ensuring that all information is accurate and well-maintained. This includes mandatory checks, COSHH Assessments, Risk Assessments, and DSE Assessments.
Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate is likely to have experience managing health and safety in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution setting.
Proven strategic experience is essential.
Familiarity with ISO 45001, LOLER, and PUWER regulations is required.
Experience with workplace transport equipment such as forklifts and mobile elevating work platforms is advantageous.
Multi-site experience is a plus but not mandatory.
Recognized qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma, are required. A qualification as a Mental Health First Aider is beneficial but not essential.
Working Hours
34.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 17:00, and Friday from 08:00 to 16:30 (with a one-hour lunch break).
