Senior Flood Risk Consultant

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join our Flooding and Water Management Team. This role offers flexibility, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, with options for tailored start and finish times.
As a member of the Water Environment Department, you will be instrumental in the sustainable management of water resources, contributing to the protection of water environments, improving safety, and bolstering resilience against flood risks and climate change. We are committed to nurturing your technical skills and expertise, empowering you to become a Change Maker by developing sustainable and innovative solutions to tackle these pressing challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive flood risk assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), and flood risk management strategies across the UK for infrastructure, utilities, and development projects in both public and private sectors.
Provide expert technical guidance to the modelling team, ensuring the quality and accuracy of flood risk modelling outputs.
Lead or collaborate closely with project managers to coordinate resources, manage contracts, supervise client interactions, and oversee quality, programme, and budget adherence.
Mentor team members, provide technical support, and track their professional development.
To excel in this position, you should possess:
- Extensive experience in hydraulic modelling across diverse projects.
- A solid technical foundation in UK hydrology and open channel hydraulics.
- Familiarity with standard hydraulic modelling software such as Innovyze ICM, Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, or SRH2D.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities and the ability to meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Understanding of economic evaluations like MCM and B£ST.
- Experience in optioneering and schematic design.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage in public and statutory consultations.
- Knowledge of Flood Risk Assessment, Natural Flood Management, and Sustainable Drainage techniques is advantageous.
- Chartered status and a relevant postgraduate degree.
