Job Title: Sexual Health Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced Sexual Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team at County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive, evidence-based, and patient-focused sexual and reproductive health care to our patients.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assess and manage patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, as well as provide follow-up routine care.
  • Work independently to undertake telephone and face-to-face consultations, making professionally autonomous decisions and being accountable for total episodes of patient care.
  • Initiate and review routine and emergency contraception medication, insert and remove sub-dermal contraceptive implants, and undertake genital examination, testing, and treatment of asymptomatic and/or symptomatic patients.
  • Provide specialist advice and support in relation to pregnancy decision making, onward referral into services, and promote and support best practice in sex & relationships education to young people.
  • Deliver a highly specialist sexual health outreach service to extremely vulnerable and hard-to-reach patients, advocating for patients either directly or in an advisory role to other workers and professionals.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Health Related subject (or equivalent qualification/experience)
  • Accredited Contraception qualification, incorporating LARC fitting and removal and/or completion of Sexual Health Integrated Pathway (or equivalent) incorporating health advising/STI management or willingness to undertake the required training courses.
  • Cervical cytology.
Working Arrangements:

This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be required to work in a flexible way to meet the needs of the service, including evening and weekend work. Ability to travel to different sites independently to fulfil the requirements of the post is essential.
