Job Title: Advanced Sexual Health Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Sexual Health Nurse to join our team at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with sexual health concerns.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct comprehensive sexual health assessments, including genital examinations and testing, to diagnose and treat a range of STIs and genital conditions.
  2. Initiate and review emergency contraception medication, as well as insert and remove sub-dermal contraceptive implants, in accordance with Non-Medical Prescribing and Patient Group Directions.
  3. Provide specialist advice and support on pregnancy decision-making, onward referral, and contraception options.
  4. Deliver a range of services, including Chlamydia screening, treatment, and partner notification, as well as harm minimization and brief interventions for alcohol and drug use.
  5. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure seamless care pathways and effective communication with patients and stakeholders.
  6. Contribute to the development and implementation of learning packages for newly appointed staff and students/learners.
Requirements:
  • Registered General Nurse with experience in sexual health or a relevant field.
  • Accredited Contraception qualification, incorporating LARC fitting and removal, and/or completion of the Sexual Health Integrated Pathway.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of national strategies, policy drivers, and legislation in relation to sexual health and contraception.
