Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health Physics Monitor to join our team for a significant remediation project in Cumbria. In this role, you will provide essential radiological monitoring services, ensuring the safety of people, equipment, and the environment from the effects of ionising radiation and contamination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor surface and airborne contamination using hand-held and portable instruments.
- Measure radiation dose rates with hand-held, installed, and portable detectors.
- Conduct personal contamination checks and provide responses as needed.
- Segregate and consign waste and monitor packages for transportation.
- Perform functional tests on radiological protection instruments using calibrated radioactive sealed sources.
- Respond to radiological condition changes using the As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) principles.
- Document radiation protection monitoring and survey results in accordance with procedures.
- Participate in emergency responses to monitor and manage environmental radiological releases.
- Communicate radiological protection information effectively to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 2 in Radiation Protection.
- Previous experience as a Health Physics Monitor.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to obtain SC level security clearance, including identity.
