Job Overview

As part of the Government and Housing division at NEC Software Solutions, the Cloud Operations Engineer will join a dedicated DevOps team responsible for deploying and managing NECSWS's cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions across both public and private cloud environments.

The successful candidate will engage with a diverse array of technologies, necessitating a quick comprehension of new tools and troubleshooting techniques. Additionally, they will play a key role in the evaluation and selection of emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain operational support for both existing and new SaaS solutions.
  • Assist in the design, development, testing, and ongoing enhancement of DevOps solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members, other NEC SWS business units, and stakeholders to execute DevOps projects while considering cost, timelines, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Architect and deliver DevOps initiatives that ensure applications are both cost-efficient and secure, while achieving operational objectives (including 24/7 availability).
  • Document solutions, including deployment procedures, troubleshooting methods, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Execute business continuity and disaster recovery plans, including annual testing.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to improve DevOps processes (CI/CD, etc.).
  • Provide assistance to development teams.
  • Engage in architecture discussions, requirements gathering, and planning sessions with project stakeholders.
  • Effectively manage and prioritize personal workload based on current demands and priorities.

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Proficient problem-solving abilities in a complex technical environment.
  • Experience with Terraform.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker and Podman).
  • Knowledge of Jenkins Pipelines.
  • Proficient in GIT.
  • Experience with OCI or Azure.

Desirable Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of Apache HTTPD.
  • Experience with REDIS.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with MySQL.
  • Understanding of zero-trust and secure-by-design principles.
