About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Software Engineer to join our dynamic team at Osmii. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development, with a focus on Spring Boot, and preferably hands-on experience in migrating applications to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality Java applications using the Spring Boot framework.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, and other developers to deliver robust software solutions.
  • Ensure the application code follows best practices and adheres to coding standards.
  • Assess existing systems, identify migration strategies, and develop cloud-native solutions.
  • Work with DevOps teams to automate deployment pipelines using tools such as Gitlab, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of Java applications on GCP.
  • Ensure all applications and cloud environments comply with security standards and industry best practices.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot framework.
  • Knowledge of Cloud services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, and GKE.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Test Driven Development and frameworks for unit/integration tests.
  • Good understanding of containerisation and container orchestration.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, Git, Gitlab etc.).
  • Knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and caching mechanisms.
  • Understanding of networking, security, and IAM in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
Desirable Skills
  • Working experience with GCP.
  • Google Cloud Professional certification.
  • Experience migrating application with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Experience working in large organisations and be a part of migration programs.
