Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (SHE) professional to join our team at United Living Group. As a Senior SHEQ Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting our projects in delivering a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Manage a team of SHE Advisors to support projects in the delivery of our Safety, Health, and Environmental strategy, ensuring managers assume full responsibility for their activities.
  • Tender and Contract Management: Provide Safety, Health, and Environmental input into the tender and contract award process to ensure compliance with our standards.
  • Expert Advice: Act as a single point of contact for advice and expertise on Health & Safety matters to project teams, ensuring the effectiveness of Construction Phase Plans.
  • Environmental Guidance: Provide guidance on environmental and sustainability matters to meet our targets, metrics, and net zero driver.
  • Incident Investigations: Manage accident/incident investigations to establish root causes and communicate learning points to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Process Improvement: Challenge existing working methods to incorporate Health, Safety, and Environmental good practice during design and construction phases without compromising business priorities.
  • Culture Development: Contribute to a safe and secure culture through behavior-based coaching at all levels within the project.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with the wider construction industry to share and implement lessons learned.
  • Relationship Management: Coordinate, develop, and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders, the HSE, Local Authorities, EA, and SEPA.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Have an in-depth knowledge and provide expert advice on the CDM regulation covering various roles such as Client, Principal Designer, and Principal Contractor.
  • SHE Support: Provide support and guidance to ensure project representatives are aware of their SHE roles and responsibilities in line with our Clients QMS.
  • Documentation Review: Undertake reviews of United Living and contractor documentation, participate in site safety meetings, H&S Audits, and Sensible Monitoring Inspections on gas projects.
  • Audit Capability: Provide independent H&S audit capability to the delivery teams for a portfolio of projects through pre-construction and construction phases.
  • CDM Risk Management: Ensure suitable controls and processes are in place for the development and ongoing management of the CDM Risk Register and monitoring of the suitability and effectiveness of the Contractor's temporary works inspections on gas projects.
  • Competence Review: Assist the project team representatives with the review of contractor's competence and identification of training needs.
  • Reporting: Provide monthly H&S data and safety stats to Directors as needed.
  • Relationship Development: Develop internal relationships to resolve issues, develop internal learning, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Health and Safety Diploma: Health and Safety Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Member of IOSH: Chartered member of IOSH
  • Driving License: Current full UK driving license
