Emergency Preparedness and Response Manager

Reporting to the Deputy Head of EPRR, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Emergency Preparedness Resilience & Response (EPRR) arrangements of the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job
  • To prepare, implement, test and evaluate emergency plans, ensuring compatibility with other health and emergency service plans and compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
  • To manage and assess risks associated with public events within or impacting the Trust area, evaluating and planning for special medical arrangements as needed.
  • To oversee the Trust's preparedness for responding to and mitigating the effects of CBRN or Hazmat incidents.
  • In liaison with the Trust Business Continuity Manager, contribute to the Trust Business Continuity Policy.
  • Participate in the Resilience Team on-call rota to provide specialist support and advice to incident commanders in major or specialist incidents.
  • Stay up-to-date on national, NHS, or emergency services strategies concerning civil protection issues as necessary.
  • Emergency driving qualification.
  • PRINCE2 project management.
  • NHS Management Qualification.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Aptitude
  • Demonstrable highly developed specialist knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act (CCA) 2004 and its delivery at a local level.
  • Demonstrate a highly developed specialist knowledge of the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles.
  • Demonstrable highly developed specialist knowledge of NHS and its relation to resilience and the delivery of the CCA at a local and regional level.
  • Demonstrable evidence of previous partnership working with ambulance services and external agencies with a proven track record.
  • Demonstrable evidence of previous work at a tactical level in the area of emergency planning/business within the NHS or public sector.
  • Extensive specialist knowledge in current risks and threats.
  • Experience in managing significant projects across the organisation.
  • Experience in design and delivery of training and educational programmes within the multi-agency arena.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • High degree of professionalism and credibility in influencing senior management and other organisations.
  • Able to think laterally and in a flexible way.
