Position Overview:
As a Strategic Finance Advisor, you will deliver a comprehensive range of professional financial business partnering services. This includes providing strategic financial counsel, specialized technical support, and assisting in financial and resource management, alongside internal financial control management and the preparation of statutory financial statements.
Your role will involve enhancing the finance business partnering framework to ensure effective financial governance by sharing best practices across the organization.
You will contribute to business intelligence initiatives and support benchmarking activities that promote value for money and informed decision-making.
Your ability to objectively challenge assumptions will drive solution-oriented outcomes.
Understanding client needs and priorities is essential, as you will provide services that ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
You will assist in fulfilling the statutory responsibilities of the Section 151 Officer, ensuring that internal controls are established and functioning effectively.
Additionally, you will identify, develop, and support initiatives aimed at transforming service delivery across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure robust financial control and governance for service delivery.
- Provide valuable financial guidance and advice to budget holders, managers, and directors in managing their resources.
- Deliver financial insights and support to portfolio holders and members through regular briefings, inquiries, training, and participation in scrutiny meetings.
- Develop business cases and conduct options appraisals to support organizational objectives.
- Identify and explore opportunities for cost reduction and savings through well-structured business cases.
- Foster effective working relationships to promote collaborative decision-making and management of financial resources.
- Manage your responsibilities effectively while supporting Accountancy Officers and Apprentices as necessary.
- Ensure deadlines are met, and adequate staff coverage is maintained for effective finance service delivery.
- Monitor performance in line with guidelines and implement service improvements and change management initiatives.
- Collaborate with external partners and agencies as required, and provide support for internal and external audits.
Essential Qualifications:
You should be a member of a CCAB body and actively pursuing continuous professional development or studying for a CCAB/CIMA qualification. Extensive experience in providing financial support services within a large or public sector organization is essential, along with proficiency in financial modeling and options appraisal techniques, particularly using spreadsheets and business intelligence tools.
