About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Infrastructure Engineering to join our team at Legal & General. As a key member of our Group Technology organization, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our infrastructure engineering strategy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality infrastructure products and services that meet the needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive infrastructure engineering strategy that aligns with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the infrastructure engineering team, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and expertise to deliver high-quality infrastructure products and services.
  • Infrastructure Product Development: Oversee the development and implementation of infrastructure products and services, ensuring that they meet the needs of the business and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Agile Methodologies: Lead the adoption and maturing of Agile delivery practices within the infrastructure engineering team, ensuring that they are able to deliver high-quality infrastructure products and services in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Operational Management: Take accountability for the operational management of infrastructure engineering, ensuring that infrastructure products and services are reliable, accessible, and compliant with company policies and procedures.
  • Cost Management: Manage infrastructure engineering costs, ensuring that they are optimized for maximum value and support business sustainability and growth.
  • Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with emerging infrastructure engineering trends and assess their suitability for adoption within the company, ensuring that our infrastructure products and services remain competitive and innovative.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience in running Agile infrastructure engineering teams and deploying platform engineering capabilities.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth understanding of Agile and DevSecOps methodologies, technical understanding of products and their life cycles, and up-to-date knowledge on industry standards and best practices.
  • Business Acumen: Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, API, open data, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics and business intelligence/analytics.
  • Infrastructure Technologies: Knowledge of infrastructure technologies, including data, voice, identity management, storage, mainframe, and databases.
